Win an exclusive set of commemorative WWI stamps courtesy of Jersey Post

The Great War of 1914-1918 embroiled countries across the globe and counted more combatants than any war before or since, of which over 37 million became casualties. Many of the conflict’s most devastating battles, fought in the fields and towns of Northern France and Belgium, the deserts of the Middle East and the wild expanse of the North Sea, have become synonymous with the massive and futile loss of life. 2016 has already marked the centenaries of the evacuation from Gallipoli, the Battle of Jutland, and the First Day of the Battle of the Somme – each one bringing extra poignancy to the annual acts of remembrance for the sacrifice and loss of life.
