According to officials, a senior International Monetary Fund (IMF) Official and 4 UN employees have been killed in a suicide bomb and gun attack on a restaurant in Kabul. Labelled a “horrific attack”, 13 foreign victims were also killed including Canadians, Lebanese and a Briton, along with 8 Afghans.
Popular with foreign nationals, diplomats and aid workers, the restaurant was busy at the time before a suicide attacker detonated his explosives outside the gates of the heavily fortified restaurant and 2 gunmen entered the restaurant opening fire on everyone inside. The attackers were later shot dead by security forces who arrived at the scene.
