In a change of format for Almost History: The What If podcast, the team reflect on the accuracy of the recent blockbuster epic

Almost History was launched as a podcast to investigate the ‘What If’ questions of history; the events that could have been, that almost were and what that would have meant for the world. For this special bonus episode of the podcast ahead of a season two return, the All About History team of Jonathan Gordon (Editor), Callum McKelvie (Features Editor) and Emily Staniforth (Staff Writer) bring their expertise to something else that’s almost history, but not quite – Hollywood movies set in the past.
Having analysed the historical accuracy of movies in the regular History Vs Hollywood page of All About History magazine, the team is well-versed in seeking out the faux pas films make about the past. And given the attention it’s received this summer it made sense to kick off this new venture for Almost History with Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster epic, The Odyssey.
Making use of their own historical research as well as support from classics experts, they break down the movie, what it gets wrong and right, and give their overall impressions of the film. You can listen to the conversation now in the bonus episode of Almost History: The What If Podcast from All About History.
