For this special episode of Almost History, the team is taking a look at the real history behind the recently rereleased Ken Russell classic, The Devils. Jonathan Gordon (Editor) and Callum McKelvie (Features Editor) of All About History explore the movie from multiple angles now that it has been restored and extended with original footage by Warner Bros. Clockwork.

In addition to their insights, Callum also caught up with Dr Jan Machielsen to get his expertise on what really happened in Loudun with the ‘possessions’ that inspired the film’s story. And he chats with film critic Mark Kermode who was involved in this restoration, has been a fan of the film for decades and came to know director Ken Russell personally.

In other words, you can learn about the real history behind the story, find out more about the making of The Devils and get our thoughts on the movie too. You can listen to the conversation now in the bonus episode of Almost History: The What If Podcast from All About History.
